After losing two consecutive games, the Tigers are making a lineup change. Freshman guard Ashton Hardaway makes his first Memphis basketball start and Nick Jourdain enters the starting lineup.
Ashton Hardaway was terrific against Michigan, scoring 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from three-point range off the bench in the Battle 4 Atlantis. He will start in place of Caleb Mills. Nick Jourdain gets the start while Jaykwon Walton will come off the bench against VCU.
The lineup change comes on the same day starting Center Jordan Brown was ruled out with an illness and did not travel with the team. Malcolm Dandridge will start in place of Brown after scoring 13 points on 6-9 shooting and three blocks off the bench against Ole Miss.
This is likely a move that is focused on getting the Tigers going early on the offensive end and rebounding the basketball. Hardaway is shooting 46.7% from the 3-point line this season and can get going offensively at any given moment. Jourdain is averaging 3.8 rebounds a game. Memphis has been outrebounded in the last three of four games.
Memphis tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. at Stuart C. Siegel Center and will air on ESPNU
