On Sunday, former Memphis G Kendric Davis put on an absolute show at the 2023 NBA G League Elite Camp. For those that do not know, the 2023 NBA G League Camp is a three-day event that gives NBA Draft prospects an opportunity to showcase their skills in front of NBA and NBA G League scouts, coaches, and front-office executives. At the conclusion of the camp, seven athletes receive an invite to the 2023 NBA Draft Combine, which gives them even more exposure. After an exceptional display of playmaking and shot creation, Kendric Davis earned an invite to the 2023 NBA Draft Combine.
Day 1 Recap
On Day 1, Kendric Davis showed the type of player that he was at SMU and the University of Memphis. He drove downhill with ease, creating opportunities for others at the rim and on the perimeter. He created his own shot on multiple occasions, pulling up for a mid-range jumper or stepping back for a 3PT shot. Davis finished with 8 points, 4 assists and 1 rebound in the stellar performance for the former Memphis guard.
Day 2 Recap
On Day 2, Kendric Davis performed even better, finishing with 16 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. The announcers rightfully marveled at multiple passes from Davis, as he continuously created opportunities for others. Davis looked extremely comfortable leading the offense for his team in the scrimmage, impressing multiple NBA scouts. He played the game at his pace, ultimately landing him the denotation of one of the standouts from the 2023 NBA G League Elite Camp.
The Memphis guard impressed down the stretch, as he and Auburn F Johni Broome almost willed his team to victory. Davis finished with a +/- of 13, the second-highest among any player in the scrimmage. NBA scouts continuously note that Davis is a weak defender. However, Davis was vocal on the defensive end today and showed his defensive potential.
