Lester Quinones Signs Two-Way Deal with Golden State

Lester Quinones agreed to a two-way deal with the Golden State Warriors. The deal comes after an excellent showing in the 2023 Summer League where the guard led the team with 22 points per game.

His time in the G-League

After going undrafted, Quinones signed with Golden State days after the draft. Then, the Memphis guard played great in the G-League earning the 2022-23 Most Improved Player award with the Santa Cruz Warriors.

He averaged 22 points per game including 10 double-doubles in 31 games and a 46-point double-double performance.

Quinones earns a roster spot

Afterward, Quinones would sign a 10-day contract with the Warriors, earning himself a roster spot near the end of the season.

The guard only appeared in four regular-season games and one playoff game.

He made it count as he scored nine points in 11 minutes against the Trail Blazers and 10 points versus the Lakers.

What This Means For Quinones

Obviously, the Golden State front office sees the potential in the reigning G-League Most Improved Player.

The 22-year-old guard is the ideal three-and-D guy that Golden State could use on their roster. Also, his 6-foot-5 frame makes it easy for him to fit into any lineup.

How well Quinones can fit into the system

His game has drawn comparisons to guard Jordan Poole, who was a key part of the Warriors’ offense. Obviously, that experiment with Poole and Golden State ended when he was traded to the Wizards this off-season.

Due to the move, Quinones now has the opportunity to earn that roster spot and even become a rotational piece to a contender. He will have training camp to compete for the spot, however, it’s been said that he is a ‘strong’ contender for it.

If Quinones earns the spot

The opportunity to play alongside four potential hall-of-fame players will greatly help his development. He has shown that he continues to improve when given the chance to play his game.

Significantly, we could see the best version of Quinones in that championship-level system.
