The Memphis Tigers 2025 recruiting class has a total of 13 commits so far. One of those commits is Jonathan Harding, a tight end from The Villages, Florida. With the Tigers’ current starting tight end Anthony Landphere entering his final year of eligibility, the starting job in 2025 and beyond is up for grabs. Meet Jonathan Harding, a player who I expect to compete for the starting job down the line:

Scouting Report

Harding won’t compete for the starting job in 2025 on account of his young age. In this era of college football, coaches (including Memphis’) are looking for upperclassmen or graduate transfers to start while they develop young talent. Harding is that young talent. Here’s what stuck out to me about his game:

  • At 6’4, 225 he has the frame to put on more mass
  • Almost a receiver in a tight end’s body
  • Crisp routes given his age and size
  • Strong hands at the catch point
  • Smooth athlete – ran a 12.26 100-yard dash
  • Solid after the catch

This kid undeniably oozes with potential. After a year or two of development, I’m optimistic about Harding being a dynamic weapon in the Tiger’s offense.

QnA

Q – What made you choose Memphis?

A – Everything. They check every box I’m looking for in a university and a football program, Coach Silverfield has built a winning culture on and off the field! I have great relationships with the coaches, especially my position Coach, Coach Salem, and the OC Coach Cramsey. I truly believe this is the best place with the best people and the best opportunity to get fully developed.

They have a winning tradition and great fan support and Memphis is a great city! The staff is like a family there, and they all took the time to get to know me and my family. That meant a lot.

I love the investment they are making into the stadium, and I love how the city loves the Memphis Tigers! I’m looking forward to representing not just the university, but the city.

Q – What was the major point the coaching staff sold you on?

A – Development. My goal is to play in the NFL. And Memphis has 17 guys that are active in the NFL right now.

After meeting everyone and learning about all they have invested into helping Memphis win championships I knew this was the place for me so I shut down my recruitment and canceled my other official visit.

Q – Finally, tell Tiger fans about you as a player.

A – I’m an athletic tight end, I can catch the ball and make plays with the ball in my hand. I love to block and do whatever it takes to help the Tigers win, whether it’s blocking, scoring touchdowns, or making plays on special teams.
