On Wednesday night, Memphis Football landed three-star offensive lineman Taccofah Lewis. Lewis appears to be the first commitment of the 2024 class for HC Ryan Silverfield and the Tigers. His commitment is definitely a solid foundation to build upon in the 2024 class. Lewis chose the Tigers over offers from Akron, Alabama State and others. He ranks as the #103 IOL in the class of 2024.
Who is Taccofah Lewis?
Taccofah Lewis definitely has a unique name. Lewis hails from Pearl, MS and plays high school football at Pearl High School. Lewis had blown up from his excellent performances in several camps and even received interest from Ole Miss. He is definitely a prospect that will continue to outshine his ranking.
Scouting Report on Lewis
Lewis is an offensive lineman that mainly plays between the tackles. He is a good-sized lineman that primarily plays on the interior of the offensive line. Lewis stands 6 foot 4 inches and weighs 292 pounds. He is extremely strong and slots in nicely next to the center.
In the near future, Lewis needs to work on his footwork in all areas of blocking. “My steps have to be better in the zone, down block and pass position,” said Lewis in an interview with Kealy Shields. The film shows that Lewis has been using his size and strength to supplement his slow first step off of the snap. However, Lewis is committed and determined to improve. “I want to play college ball. I just want to be better. If I do something, I want to be the best to do it,” said Lewis.
His work ethic and determination to improve his game reveal a lot about his character. Lewis travels nearly two hours for training in the offseason with former SEC football player Scott Lashley. Lewis’ determination is a trait that will definitely translate to the collegiate level.
