As most fans probably know by now, it’s not exactly news when a recruit releases a “top schools” list such as this one, especially when the list is as large as seven. What it does show, however, is that things are progressing in Givens’ recruitment, and that one could expect news from him in the foreseeable future.
Still, the reality is that among the seven schools listed, Givens is likely considering just a select few of them. The good news for Memphis, though, is that it’s probably one of those select few. The 6-foot-3 guard spent his first two years of high school at Memphis University School.
The Eagles’ top three scorers were 5-stars Liam McNeeley, Derik Queen and Cooper Flagg. So, the fact that Givens is even producing at a school like Montverde should display how talented he is.
Givens currently plays on the Nike EYBL circuit for Mokan Elite, where he averaged 18.8 points and 2.3 assists per game during Session 3 of the Nike EYBL season. He should be back in Memphis this weekend for Session 4. Fans can watch him and other EYBL athletes play at the brand-new Memphis Sports and Events Center at Liberty Park. The session runs from Saturday-Monday.
Can Memphis Land Givens?
Though Memphis faces some stiff competition in its battle for Givens, it’s not far-fetched to call it the favorite to land him. Considering the local ties and Memphis’ need for a long-term option at point guard, the Tigers seem to be a favorable destination for the 6-foot-3 guard.
Penny Hardaway’s Tigers currently have zero commits for the 2024 class. And Givens would arguably be the perfect opener.
