Memphis’ Saorla Miller and Kaylie Bierman Earn Weekly Honors

Memphis’ Saorla Miller and Kaylie Bierman earned conference Player of the Week honors. Miller earned the AAC Offensive Player of the Week for her excellent start to the season. Bierman was named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week for two clean sheets in both of her starts.

Overall, this is Miller’s second Conference Offensive Player of the Week award. Bierman received the first conference award of her career.

Miller’s Impact on Memphis

Miller, a fifth-year forward, has had one of the best starts in program history with three goals in two games. Undoubtedly, Miller has done an excellent job creating chances whether it’s finding the back of the net or setting up one of her teammates.

In the open field, Miller has proven to be dangerous with the ball as this was evident versus Ole Miss.

Miller is a focal point in the Memphis offense as she was named to the AAC Preseason Watch List. This is nothing new for her as she has earned many honors throughout her career. First, she earned AAC Offensive Player of the Week and the AAC Championship Most Outstanding Offensive Player honors in 2021.

Nevertheless, the forward is building off of a great season last year where she netted in six goals and assisted on six of them. Also, she started each game last season so head coach Brooks Monaghan has some true confidence in Miller.

Bierman keeps it clean

The junior goalkeeper has yet to allow a goal this season. She started twice in her sophomore season, earning a record of 1-1 and allowing four goals. Now, Bierman has matched her start total from last year with two wins on the season so far.

Bierman looks like she has the keys to this defense as she has done an excellent job in goal. She has five saves in 135 minutes, including four of them coming against Ole Miss.

The UNC-Wilmington transfer is on pace to have a great season for Memphis. Now, she has the trust of the coaches and earned more of it with the weekly award.
