The Memphis Tigers have been after 2025 four-star guard Kayden Edwards.

The Tigers, along with Arkansas, Texas and Colorado have been the schools targeting Edwards the most, according to Hitmen Hoops.

Memphis has made Edwards a priority as a target in the class of 2025 recruiting board.

The Relationship with Edwards

The Memphis coaching staff has let Edwards know that he is on their radar as head coach Penny Hardaway and assistant coach Faragi Phillips spoke with the young prospect.

“I have a good relationship with Coach Penny and Coach Faragi,” Edwards said. “No matter where I go, it’s all love for them.”

Skill Set

Firstly, Edwards has established himself known as an elite scorer. He put up 28 points and 17 points in the 2023 Nike EYBL Peach Jam.

Also, 247Sports has Edwards ranked at No. 73 in the Class of 2025, with a composite score ranking him at No. 64. According to MADE Hoops, Edwards is the No. 32 ranked player in the class. Additionally, the four-star recruit sits at 6-foot-3 on one of the top teams in the nation at Duncanville (Texas).

At this point, Edwards has established himself as an excellent scorer with a great three-point shot and phenomenal defense, overall proving himself to be very reliable in all aspects.

The Process to Get Edwards

Memphis has not yet made an offer to Edwards, but the consistent communication and relationship between Edwards and the coaching staff mean we will see an offer presented soon. The Tigers face some competition with many schools, including some Power 5, gaining the attention of Edwards.

Thankfully, Hardaway has made a name to sign excellent talent with the likes of Emoni Bates, Jalen Duren and many more.

Hardaway has made a name to have a charm that reels in recruits after visits. Recruits over the years have appreciated Hardaway and his coaching staff after visits.

What Edwards Could Bring to Memphis

Truthfully, there is no doubt that Hardaway will incorporate Edwards into his system if committed. Edwards is ideal for the Memphis system as Hardaway loves consistent defenders with the ability to score.

Obviously, Hardaway will go all in trying to sign Edwards, soon telling him what he wants to hear. Edwards will have a great impact if he commits since the Tigers will go all in for him. Only time will tell as Memphis will make the necessary moves to get one of the best guards in the Class of 2025.
